Far Cry 3 is hands-down one of the best shooters of the last generation. It just does so much, and most of what it does is done extremely well. The shooting, the stealth, the level design, the hunting, the missions. All of it combined to make a truly outstanding game that more than made up for the sins of its ambitious but faulty predecessor Far Cry 2. Well, here we are, two years later, and Far Cry is about to bridge the gap between console generations. And... how should I put this? Far Cry 4 looks absolutely amazing.
This series seems to pride itself on taking you on one globetrotting murder adventure after another. This time, the globe stopped spinning in an undisclosed region in the Himalayas known as Kyrat. It's a strong departure from the tropical paradise of Far Cry, the burning savannah of Far Cry 2, and the mountainous ruins of Far Cry 3. Kyrat is all about crags and snowfall, and man is it gorgeous.
There's not much to say about the story so far, but what we know is this: you are Ajay Ghale, a Kyrat-born expatriate who has returned home to spread the ashes of his mother. Unfortunately, he ends up running afoul of the oppressive regime of Pagan Min, a ruthless despot.
Just watch this footage: it gives an excellent sense of the game's verticality and its awesome-looking cooperative gameplay.
